SoundTown aims to close the early literacy skills gap by combining deep research into foundational literacy success, simple no-prep 5-minutes-a-day activities, instructional design to engage diverse children including the most vulnerable, and the co-involvement of teachers.

SoundTown is a comprehensive literacy program designed to build these essential foundational skills in young learners (particularly TK, Pre-K and K):
  • Phonemic Awareness: Activities to develop students' ability to identify, manipulate, and produce individual sounds in words.
  • Alphabet knowledge: Instruction on letter-sound relationships and early decoding skills.
  • Vocabulary: Building a rich vocabulary through targeted instruction and visual support.
and delivered through:
  • 5-minute research-backed lessons: Fit seamlessly into your daily routine like circle time or dismissal with no prep.
  • Playful instruction and movement: Engage young learners with fun town characters that teach phonemes and their letter sounds
  • Integrated mnemonics and articulation: To aid in memory and recall.

One grant per week from
November 1 to January 31, 2025

Why apply?
Enter our 2024 grant program to receive one complete, free school-wide site license to SoundTown till June 30, 2025. This includes access to all features of SoundTown, virtual PD for you and your colleagues, and support throughout the duration of the grant. 

This grant is valued at $695, and we will be giving away at least one grant per week from November 1 till December 31, 2024.

The sooner you apply the more weeks you will be in consideration for.
Who should apply?
We invite any educator who is passionate about finding and using the best research and evidence-based early literacy solutions. 

Administrators may apply for targeted classrooms within their school or district. Teachers, reading specialists, multilingual learner teachers, special education teachers, and speech and language pathologists may apply for their classrooms/students. 

Educators must be in US-based schools that are not currently using, piloted, or trialed SoundTown.
How do I apply?
Let us know if you’re interested by filling out the form below. 
  • Talk to your administrator responsible for your curriculum about the requirements for the grant program. Their participation is necessary to be awarded a grant. 
  • The SoundTown team will review your application and then schedule a call with you and your administrator.
  • Our team will email and call selected grantees. One grant is awarded on a weekly basis.
  • You only need to apply once and your application will be considered as part of our weekly application process.
Recipient requirements
  • Must work with children ages 3-6 years old.
  • A 20-minute Zoom call during the school year to give feedback on the program in your classroom.
  • A written narrative report due no later than June 1, 2025, highlighting the pros and cons of the program including how it was utilized in your classroom setting. 
  • Grant recipients and administrators will schedule training for all relevant educators in the same school-site for fair and equitable access to SoundTown. Individual teachers have the discretion as to whether to use SoundTown following the training session.
  • Grant recipients will be announced on SoundTown marketing channels.

Plus, all Pre-K and Kindergarten teachers in your school building will gain access to use the program in their classrooms. 

Invite a colleague to apply too! Schools and districts that have more than one teacher application will be given highest priority.
